Why Resume Writing is an Art! [Video]

Resumes take a lot of work to prepare.  You want the best possible resume right?  Then you definitely don’t want to be leaving it to the last minute.

You’ve got to be willing to spend time (which is money) or the money (which is money) to invest into your resume.  Your resume is like an ad for you and don’t you want it to really reflect your best qualities, skills and experiences?

Writing a resume is an art. There’s no exact science.  If you get a writer to do it then you’ll want to make sure they give you some sort of guarantee because sometimes the resume still hasn’t hit its “perfect” point yet.

A resume takes two to tango if you have a writer do it. Don’t forget that the resume will ultimately be about what you can do for a company or business and your resume should aim for that.

  • Creating Job Leads When Unemployed

Being unemployed gets lonely especially when you’re the only one that’s jobless. Rather than isolate yourself from the rest of the world locked up in a depressed state of mind, it’s vital to keep up with your social life while on the job hunt to open opportunities for career possibilities. We know that while your first resource is to look online for jobs, face-to-face networking plays a larger part in finding your dream job because it’s always about who you know.

    5 Ways to Outsmart Loneliness

Excelle outlines 5 Ways to Combat Loneliness When You’re Jobless. These are:
    1) work from a coffee shop,
    2) team up with other jobseekers,
    3) go to networking events,
    4) get a (night) life, and
    5) volunteer

All of these do not come as a surprise to me. Let’s face it. You probably don’t spend every waking hour searching through job ads. The time that you spend lounging on the couch in front of the tube or wallowing in self-pity could be put towards making contacts through your friends, neighbours, volunteer workers, with the person you happen to conjure up a conversation with at the supermarket or at the nightclub. Opportunities are everywhere; you just need to let yourself be open to them, just like finding your next significant other.

    Clubbing to Network?

Before you rule out the clubbing scene because of the imagined cost, you simply need to discipline yourself and remember you’re on a budget. You’re still on the job hunt but just having a good time doing it (without all the alcohol). That can be a more effective way to build up your confidence level.

    Open The Eyes to Volunteering

Have you always wanted to volunteer but never had the time to do it?  Well now is the time to do so.  Volunteering is the surest way to keep yourself active and informed while developing more employable skills to add to your resume. Volunteering is never a waste of time and is especially beneficial when you’re volunteering for an organization that you would like to work for eventually.

It gets your foot in the door. It also gives you a great answer in a job interview when you’re asked what you were doing while you were unemployed. But regardless of where you volunteer, find comfort in the fact that you will be more experienced and job ready when you land your dream job.

    Live Life

Losing your job can be a blow to your finances and self-esteem and although you may need to make changes to your lifestyle to fit a lower budget, your social life should be at its fullest during this time. If you must, stop, dust the dirt off your shoulder, and then refocus your energies to safeguarding a brighter future and your season will come.

Do you have any suggestions on staying sharp during the job search or while unemployed? Maybe you’d like to share your experiences? Let us know.

PS: If you need more help finding or creating job leads get in touch with us by email, Facebook or Twitter. We’d be happy to give whatever useful advice we can offer or guide you to someone who can.
