Resumes take a lot of work to prepare.  You want the best possible resume right?  Then you definitely don’t want to be leaving it to the last minute.

You’ve got to be willing to spend time (which is money) or the money (which is money) to invest into your resume.  Your resume is like an ad for you and don’t you want it to really reflect your best qualities, skills and experiences?

Writing a resume is an art. There’s no exact science.  If you get a writer to do it then you’ll want to make sure they give you some sort of guarantee because sometimes the resume still hasn’t hit its “perfect” point yet.

A resume takes two to tango if you have a writer do it. Don’t forget that the resume will ultimately be about what you can do for a company or business and your resume should aim for that.

Due dates can really kill motivation if you’re not careful about how you use them.

You only assign due dates unless there’s a specific day it has to be done or for the high priority things — like meeting people or things you feel have to be finished (like your income tax).

You might as well consider it for life and death situations?

How do you deal with due dates and the stress of deadlines?  Do you assign due dates to everything?

Is it the tool that makes the person or is it the person that makes the tool?  A tool or technique only has power and value when you give it the energy to help you reach your goals.  Essentially you’ve got to activate it.

Can you solve a problem in your life by using the tools or techniques you already have more efficiently?  Are you evaluating them to see if you should keep using them?  How do you use your tools and techniques to succeed?

Apple Mail Needs to Kill the Clones

July 24, 2010

Apple Mail seriously needs some sort of option to kill duplicate emails in its menu of options. For mysterious reasons there are duplicate emails in the inbox which means that it’s taking up 2 times the space. Even if it’s fixed that’s a lot of clearing out to do!

3 Omnifocus Improvements That’d Help You More

July 12, 2010

Omnifocus is one of my favourite programs for managing my projects and my life. It has many nifty features a power user and productivity maniac can really appreciate and compared to all the other programs I’ve tried (including Things from Cultured Code, GTD Kinkless and iGTD) it’s a cut above the rest. There are however 3 key improvements that would make Omnifocus leave its competitors in the dust (and make me and Macworld give it a 5 star rating).

3 Situations Where Clients Exploit Freelancers

July 5, 2010

Here’s a great video about what happens if clients treated businesses like restaurants or stores the way they do freelancers. After watching it I have to say this was pretty much on the mark. If your clients or customers are treating you like this (despite your best efforts) perhaps it’s just better not to do business with them ever again.

4 Simple Steps to Pitch-Perfect Green Marketing

June 17, 2010

Really it’s not very hard to do green marketing. In fact marketing shouldn’t even be called marketing if you’re honest about what you do. The story of what you’re doing to help the environment and society should be detailed and your goals should be clear. No one expects you to be perfect — just let us know what you’re trying to do (for real).
