Managers who over-communicate help you get your projects done faster.
According to Sean Silverthorne in an April 18, 2011 article “When Nagging Pays Off for Managing Teams – CBS News” on CBS Moneywatch:
“The researchers studied the communication patterns of 13 project managers in half-a-dozen firms across the computing, telecommunications, and health care industries. The team recorded every activity in the managers’ workday, collecting a total of 256 hours’ worth of observations.
The key finding: Managers who are deliberately redundant as communicators move their projects forward more quickly and smoothly than those who are not.“
It’s always useful to know someone is keeping you on your toes and watching your progress.
In fact, in past experiences where management has just assumed it gets done and give you too little feedback you’ve probably found yourself less motivated to move faster.
I know I’ve had such experiences before.
In a previous article you’ve also heard how over-communication is the key to running a successful business and getting everyone on the same page.
You want to fire an arrow straight and true?
Be the guiding hand and watchful eye.
