Does a Career Define You?

A few weeks back I was having a conversation with Heather, one of the workers at Better Bulk about careers.  She asked me if a career defines you.  I responded, “If your passion for it is in the same direction and in alignment then the career and you are one.

Why does it have to be about a job or career.  Why can’t you just accept yourself as a human being – that that is the definition.

Ultimately, dear Heather we are all human beings.

And so I’ve been thinking about it.  It’s not an either/or.  You are what you want to be.

If you let the circumstances, your pressures, your duties and your obligations force you to follow someone else’s map (see my post on 7 Steps to Become a Linchpin) then it is in part your choice.  Your response, your decision is always yours to make.

Which will eventually lead me to the idea of ADD (Adventure Deficit Disorder) sometime later…
