Go from Job Hunter to New Hire: “Here’s an article with 10 refresher tips on how to find and get the job. They are generously provided by Dr. Richard Bayer is an ethicist and economist and Chief Operating Officer of The Five O’Clock Club, a national career coaching and outplacement organization. Personally it’s a great review for beginner or experience job hunter alike.”
So what are the 10 tips on the sly?
1. Consider relocating. (Yes, the people I help don’t want to. Just consider it will ya?)
2. Expect to be searching for the long haul. (Usually takes 6-8 months unless you’re really, really, really keen)
3. Keep your spirits up. (Stay positive, okay?)
4. Develop new skills. (I tell them that all the time, adapt and prosper)
5. Become a skilled job hunter. (Networking is key – it’s who you know not what. Trust me.)
6. Go on an informational interview.
7. Target what you want.
8. Learn how to get interviews.
9. See people 2 levels higher than you are.
10. Follow up, follow up, follow up. (Hand written please – shows you’re real keen).
