“Thoughts about blogs, books and the fast paced writing that’s going on all over. Are books becoming dinosaurs in this day and age?”
Seth’s Blog: Blogs, books and the irony of short: “Blogs have eliminated the reason for most business books to exist. If you can say it in three blog posts and reach more people, then waiting a year and putting in all that effort seems sort of pointless. The chances that your effort will be rewarded with income in proportion to the time you put in are pretty low.”
My thoughts? I totally agree with what Seth is saying. I’m finding myself less inclined to go with a book unless it’s been reviewed online (usually Amazon.com). At the same time, Seth’s post reminded me of university textbooks which are out of date by the time they’re printed.
In today’s world, things are moving so fast that sometimes a good book just doesn’t keep up. Perhaps someone should create the “Slow Book Movement” to parallel the Slow Food movement?
What do you think? Maybe we all need to slow down and smell the roses? Read a good book? Or perhaps run with the river?
