WHERE’S THE TIME GOING? THE TOILET?
OfficeTime is a time tracking software that was highly rated in reviews online. Here I was muttering about how much I hated tracking time in my Numbers spreadsheet (through no fault of Numbers I might add, just spreadsheets won’t cut it) when I decided enough was enough – I needed a program that did all the analysis for me instantly without me having to go through the hassle of doing all the number crunching (I do enough of that as it is).
So boom – here I am searching Versiontracker, MacUpdate, Macworld and other sites (of course, thanks to Google Search) and reading through the ratings and the comments, finally came across OfficeTime. Decided to try it out.
3 THINGS I LOVE ABOUT YOU (I MEAN OFFICETIME)
So what are the top 3 things that set OfficeTime apart from other time tracking software and your spreadsheet?
How Long Bucko?

First, you can actually keep time directly in the interface. See that green button icon (upper left corner)? With those cog wheels (that would be turning if you were running the program) inside? Well that’s part of the timing system. No more tracking time in a separate program or watch and then re-entering it. OfficeTime does it for you. Beautiful. (Other timing program goes bye bye – sort of – Minuteur is excellent regardless)
Hey! Where Do U Belong?
Second, OfficeTime is like Quicken or Quickbooks on crack for time logging. Well okay, not quite on “crack” per se though it’s pretty close. You can setup or start new categories as you need it.
Show Me the Money (Time)
Thirdly, perhaps the most important starry eyed thing a time/work logging program can do for you is do an instant analysis or report of where you’re spending your time. It really sets the soul at ease and helps you really adjust your actions in a fast and furious style (like real time mayhem). You can print out reports too (and do invoicing).
LEAVING YOUR SPREADSHEET IN THE DUST
To be honest anything that tracks time directly, works like Quickbook for categories and does instant reports would already trump a basic spreadsheet trying to do the same purpose. So if you’re finding yourself wondering, “Okay? Where am I spending most of my time?” then this program is for you.
RATING
4.0 to 4.5 stars
SOME ISSUES for v 1.42
A small note, if you have iCal syncing enabled with OfficeTime be ready to back up before a crash. It can happen a lot since OfficeTime has it setup with constant syncing. What I did was enable the syncing, downloaded all of my iCal items for specific projects or people and then disabled it.
Not a huge issue – it’s just something to keep in mind. Otherwise, OfficeTime works like lucky charms x3.
